Hunter Biden was furious when former President Obama led then-President Joe Biden off a stage during a fundraising event last year, according to a forthcoming book by ABC News’s Jonathan Karl.
The 44th and 46th presidents were at a June 2024 fundraiser held at the Peacock Theater in Hollywood, raising money for Biden’s reelection campaign prior to him exiting the race. According to reports, as the audience applauded the duo after a conversation with comedian Jimmy Kimmel, Obama grabbed Biden’s hand and they walked offstage together.
“That really, really, really, really pissed me off,” Hunter Biden told Karl, according to Axios.
The younger Biden said he thought the moment “was going to be a meme.”
“I almost jumped up on the stage and said, ‘Don’t ever f‑‑‑ing do that to the president of the United States again — ever,” he added.
The interview was part of Karl’s upcoming book, “Retribution: Donald Trump and the Campaign That Changed America.”
Joe Biden faced pressure to drop out of the 2024 presidential campaign following a disastrous debate with President Trump. One of the Democratic voices that called on him to leave the race was actor George Clooney, who wrote his plea in an op-ed in The New York Times last July, citing what he believed was Biden’s mental and physical decline.
Clooney’s op-ed also angered Hunter Biden.
“F‑‑‑ him. F‑‑‑ him. F‑‑‑ him and everybody around him,” Hunter Biden said during an interview on YouTube personality Andrew Callaghan’s web series “Channel 5.”
“I don’t have to be f‑‑‑ing nice,” the younger Biden continued. “No. 1, I agree with Quentin Tarantino. … F‑‑‑ing George Clooney is not a f‑‑‑ing actor. He is a f‑‑‑ing, like … I don’t know what he is. He is a brand.”
Hunter Biden’s swipes at Obama come as former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre wrote in her book — released Tuesday — that she “saw no such decline” from her boss leading up to and after his debate with Trump.
“I was technically a part of the president’s inner circle and saw Biden every day and saw no such decline,” Jean-Pierre wrote in her book “Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines,” which was obtained by the Daily Mail.
