LIVE Video: Senate again votes on ending government shutdown

The Senate on Monday is voting for the 11th time on the stopgap funding measure to reopen the federal government. The vote is expected to fail.

This week, military pay will take center stage once again as Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) looks to force Democrats to vote on the Trump-backed effort, part of the GOP’s uncompromising shutdown strategy.

He also indicated Monday that it may be time for Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) to bring the House back in session. The lower chamber last voted on Sept. 19

Earlier Monday, President Trump met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the White House. The duo signed a rare earth minerals agreement as the U.S. races to catch up with China’s sector dominance ahead of a bilateral lunch.

The Louisiana State University baseball team also stopped by the White House in honor of their 2025 National Championship win.
