Trump expresses confidence in Kash Patel as grilling begins on Capitol Hill

President Trump on Tuesday expressed confidence in Kash Patel while the FBI director faces a high-stake hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on his handling of the investigation into Charlie Kirk’s killing.

Trump, while leaving the White House for a trip to the United Kingdom, was asked about his confidence in Patel and he first responded that Attorney General Pam Bondi is “has done an unbelievable job.”

“And Kash, I, you know — take a look at what he did with respect to this horrible person that he just got to. He did it in two days, it took other similar cases four days, five days, four years if you look at certain shooters,” Trump said, referencing Kirk’s alleged assassin.

“I have confidence in everybody in this administration,” Trump said. “My administration — and a lot of people are saying it, it’s not just me — it’s so far the best administration ever formed.”

Patel has waved away criticism and defended his role in the manhunt for the suspect in Kirk’s killing after the conservative activist was killed during a speaking engagement in Utah.

Patel announced the arrest of a “subject” in the killing only to reverse course less than two hours later to say they had been released.

After a multi-day manhunt, authorities announced on Friday the arrest of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, saying his father pushed him to turn himself in.
