Vice President Vance fired back at former White House press secretary Jen Psaki after she suggested that second lady Usha Vance needed to be rescued from her husband.
“I think it’s disgraceful, but, of course, the second lady can speak for herself,” the vice president told reporters, when asked about Psaki’s comment.
“I am very lucky to have a wonderful wife,” he continued. “And I know, or at least I hope, that my wife feels the same about me, but we are very lucky to have this journey. Or, I should say, I’m very lucky to go on this journey with a very loving wife.”
“We’re going to keep on serving the country together. And I’m honored to have Usha by my side on this trip in particular, but always,” he added, referring to his trip to Israel.
Psaki, a former Biden-era aide turned cable TV host, joked about Vance’s political ambitions in a podcast episode this Tuesday and about his relationship with his wife.
“I think the little Manchurian candidate, JD Vance, wants to be president more than anything else,” Psaki said in the podcast, Mediaite reported. “I always wonder what’s going on in the mind of his wife. Like, are you OK? Please blink four times, we’ll — come over here. We’ll save you.”
“I mean, he’s scarier in certain ways, in some ways. And he’s young, and ambitious, and agile in the sense that he is a chameleon who makes himself into whatever he thinks the audience wants to hear from him,” she continued.
